Academic Year Structure
ACADEMIC  YEAR AND SEMESTER
For proper computation of contact hours for each course in a programme of study the College operates the following:
  1. As two semester year (First and Second semesters) for regular courses for all its programmes. A long vacation period should be adopted for vacation course.
  2. The First and Second semester should last between 17 and 18 weeks each, (including registration, teaching and examination periods) provided that no less than 15 week during each semester is devoted to teaching.
  3. Programmes of study for a long vacation period should last between 11 and 12 weeks, 10 of which is devoted to teaching for maximum utilization of staff and resources, and to give more opportunity to students to take additional courses under the course credit system, the College operates programme of study for the long vacation period, in line with course credit system.

DURATION OF THE NCE PROGRAMME
As stated in the National Policy on Education [NPE], 1981,a maximum of five year is given for a candidate to obtain the NCE Certificate. Under this provision a student can repeat a class only once. The minimum number of years to be spent to qualify for the award of NCE is 3.

CHANGE OF SUBJECT COMBINATION WITHIN SCHOOL (INTRA-SCHOOL CHANGES)
A student may changes one of his/her teaching subjects at the end of the first year provided he is prima facie qualified for the new course. For any course not more than 10% of student wishing to change shall complete a prescribed form. The present Head of Department shall signify the willingness to release while the receiving Head of Department shall signify his willingness to accept. In either case, the Dean of the school shall endorse the change.

INTER-COLLEGE TRANSFER
A candidate's request for transfer into the college, shall be favorably entertained provided the candidate's course is available in the college and that he has satisfied the minimum condition for the level in which he is interested. No candidate will however be accepted to transfer later than the Hamattan semester of his second year. In any case no candidate will be accepted on transfer if the candidate will have to spend less than 4 (four) semesters in the College.
